Nursery Rhymes

One of our favorite units of studies, and the students agree, is our Nursery Rhyme Unit. Did you know that research has shown if a child memorizes Nursery Rhymes in their early childhood years, that it will increase their reading abilities in later years? We have lots of fun making our Nursery Rhyme books, doing our Nursery Rhyme art, and yes even conducting Nursery Rhyme Science experiments.

Our egg in a a bottle experiment. This is were you take a glass bottle with an opening too small for the egg to fit, light a match and drop it to the bottom of the glass jar, then place the hard-boiled egg on top and watch it magically drop through the opening.

A candle needs oxygen to burn! We show the students what happens when we put a glass jar over a candle.

In math we measure items in the classroom with dog bones! We teach estimation through this activity  too!
