Community Helpers in the classroom

For the past two weeks our classroom has had LOTS of visitors! Our Community Helpers have been stopping by our classroom to share with our students what they do everyday to help our community. We have had visits from the tooth fairy, flight attendent, police, librarian, baker, veterinarian, pediatrician, firefighter, ATF agent, and pharmacist.  The students love getting to see, hear, try, taste and pretend to be a community helper.  Our guests have inspired these young eager minds! We can not wait to see what community helpers our students will grow up to be.

Happy President's Day!

We love celebrating our presidents in the classroom! We want the students to know why we celebrate Presdient's Day and a few of our most famous presidents.  We focus on George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and President Obama.  Abraham Lincoln's log cabin is a yummy and fun project for our students.  We also talk about what it is like to be the president and we even write the presdient a letter! We also want to know what THEY would do if they were president.  It is a great learning opportuinity for our students. Happy President's Day!

Learning our Manners!

Our class has been working on manners! So to celebrate we decided to have a manners party. With the help of our AMAZING parents, we sent out invitations in which each child had to RSVP, and dressed in our Sunday best, we went to Southern Hills for a delicious Valentine luncheon.  Our students did a wonderful job showing off their manners and I definitely think this was memorable day for our class!

101st Day of School!

It was the 101st day in our classroom which means we we had 16 Dalmatians in our classroom.  They had black and white spots and adorable puppy dog ears.  We sorted dog bones in math, made puppy chow, dog collars, and of course we had to eat our dog snacks just the way a dog would...without hands! We counted to 101, sang songs, read some wonderful dalmatian books, and watched 101 Dalmatians over lunch.  The puppies in our classroom had a fun day of learning that they will never forget!

Valentine's Day is almost here...

We have been working hard in our classroom to prepare for the BIG day! Valentine's Day is almost here and we have been decorating, making valentine cards, "mailing" our cards, and most importantly making learning fun through our Valentine Unit.

Our students are learning their addresses! We are teaching them how to
write their address on envelopes...what a perfect time of year to do this
activity!
Do you know the sign for LOVE in sign language? Our class does! And we made our own conversational hearts too!
I think the room is almost ready for a Valentine's Party!
We wrapped cereal boxes and had the students decorate the boxes!  One of our fabulous moms mad giant felt envelopes for the children to use during the week.
Our Post Office is up and running for business! The mail never stops! It is a very busy time of year!
We have a star of the week during this Valentine week! We give them a star to decorate...and we think this star is showing lots of LOVE!!
We love Valentine's Day in our classroom and the students do too!

My Five Senses Field Trip to the Corn Popper!

The Corn Popper was a great way to show our students how we use our FIVE SENSES! We smelled, tasted, touched, heard, and saw lots of yummy popcorn today! It was a GREAT field trip and not only did the students enjoy it but the parents did too!
