This week we are calling all cowgirls and cowboys to our ranch! We are excited about learning all about the Wild West in class. With the help of some of our amazing parents we have a hay bail, saddle, and lasso so our students can take turns riding our classroom "horse." Cowboy hats and vest are a must. A mom came in to make vests out of brown paper grocery sacks. We also had a fair day in class this week to celebrate the Tulsa State Fair. Each child brought in an exhibit and a stuffed animal for the petting zoo. The exhibits were judged by a grandmother in class who was an official 4H judge. Lunch that day was made by our chefs. On the menu: Corndogs, carmel apples, cheese puffs, and lemonade of course!
This Blog is designed to give new and fresh ideas to other preschool and kindergarten teachers. As teachers we know our best ideas come from each other!

Theme: Construction
Our classroom is under construction! We love this unit of study. Our preschool room is already full of great manipulatives to make a week of construction great. But, add in a field trip to a contstruction site, dirt, tools, hard hats, and great construction art and your students will never want to leave!

On the Menu...
Week two of cooking in class went great! The children pressed letter cookie cutters to cheese and enjoyed eating cheesy letters! Chicken nuggets and tater tots were fun to eat. For dessert, letter fruit snacks to compliment our ABC unit of study!
ABC's and 123's
This week in Excel our Unit of Study is ABC's and 123's. We have introduced our touchmath curriculum, continued making our ABC books, and of course read some wonderful ABC books! Our favorite is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

Student Chefs
Our students bring their lunch and eat in the classroom everyday. This year Cindy decided in celebration of having 8 girls and 8 boys (the most girls we have ever had...3) that we should cook more in our classroom. In fact today the students made their very own lunch! On the menu: Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches, crackers, and fruit. The students loved making their own sandwiches and wearing their very own aprons!
All About Me
We have been having fun learing all about our students this week with our unit "All About Me"! The students created All About Me Banners and we have been working on an All About Me book each day in class.

Old Mother Hubbard
Today our Nursery Rhyme was Old Mother Hubbard! We enjoyed eating dog biscuits for snack (Scooby Doo graham cracker snacks), measuring and sorting dog biscuits, and of course making our cupboards at art to add to our Nursery Rhyme book. It was a great day!
